The slide occurred at Slip Stream, which has been quite notorious for landslides over the years, though the recent slip has been a bit bigger than the average slip and has dammed the Dart River upstream from this location and caused a new lake to form.

The Chasm is a spectacular Chasm which is easily accessible from the road to Milford Sound. This area experiences some of the highest rainfall in New Zealand at about 7 metres per year. The photographer here used special safety equipment to get closer to the Chasm. Crossing the safety barrier in this area is highly dangerous and could result in death. The rocks in this area extremely slippery!

Morning finally came after a freezing cold night camping near the Cobb River Dam. The first snow after a long hot summer fell the night before. It only rained at the altitude that this image was taken, but the temperature dropped later and all the water on the tent was frozen in the morning. It makes a photographer glad that he bought a new sleeping bag for the winter season.

Mount Tauhara (1,088 metres) lies a few kilometres East of the town Taupo. From the summit on a clear day (as in the image) looking to the South you can easily see Mount Ruapehu and Mount Ngauruhoe which are two of the world's most active stratovolcanos.

Photographer's Notes: I came across this beach while exploring the Mahia Peninsula. The quantity and the sizes of the driftwood here, I found very impressive. I've since looked on the internet to try to find out how far this wood has travelled to get here, but I didn't manage to find any information about it. If anyone has any idea please contact me.

Piha beach is a popular amongst Surfers and is commonly used by many Aucklanders due to its close proximity to the city. The beach is quite famous due to the blackish colour of its sand, this is due to the high iron content. The large rock North of where the image was taken is named Lion Rock.

The Rainbow Warrior was given a final resting place near Matauri Bay, at the Cavalli Islands. It has become a living reef, attracting marine life and recreational divers. The idea was first proposed by the New Zealand Underwater Association. It seemed a fitting end for a ship that had spent its time protecting the marine environment. A traveller looks up at some Kauri trees in the Puketi Forest in the North Island of New Zealand. These particular Kauri trees are fairly small in comparison to some of the others that can be found a little further to the North. This type of tree was very popular with loggers in the late 19th and early 20th century. Unfortunately only 3% of the Kauri forests survived.
